This picture is awesome. First cause Luke and Rhett are silly, but most importantly because it shows how excited Kade and Adam were to prepare their cars for their upcoming derby :). It was HIL.ARIOUS the amount of complaining these two guys could dish out. You'd think we asked them to actually work hard, not sit and sand--ha! Dad took charge of this project and was awesome at it.
The boys drew their designs, he helped them cut the cars. Then gave them sand paper and told them to sand for forever. HA! After sanding for like 10 minutes they had had enough. He kept them going. At one point they were moaning and groaning about sanding up in the tree house. Dad ran over and started climbing up the rope that was hanging over the ledge.....turns out that rope, over it's long life had embedded into the tree and was ready to dislodge. SO....the tree branch broke, which means dad had lots of extra slack really fast and WHAM, 60 year old man on his back by the tree. I asked him about it later and all he said was, "yeah, I'd had a headache earlier so I just took some Tylenol". He's so rad.
Here they are weighing the car to make sure to get every ounce of weight possible.
Deep in conversation....
Boys in the garage painting their cars...Then the drew and cut out designs for us to paste on. They looked so great!
Kade's car is #16. So cool right?
Some of their supporters :)
Ready. Set. Race!
Both boy's cars got the FOX award for best design and they loved it. I just love Scouts!
Also that night Kade received his Bear Badge, and his Religious Knot. This is our great bishop giving it to him.
This isn't DERBY stuff...but they boys had a patriotic assembly were all those in Boy or Girl Scouts got to wear their uniforms. I loved it so much seeing all those kids with in their adorable scout uniforms!
