Master Training Graduation

2/1/2015

Master Training

In a house full of boys there is always someone who is tackling someone else.  Apparently in our home there is also a very distinguished fighting training plan designed by Kade.
The younger boys have all been tutored by Kade and his fighting skills.  We'll look out the window and see Rhett throwing jabs at Kade or Kade teaching Rhett Max or Luke how to jump over a foot swipe.
It gets kind of intense from time to time, and someone will start crying..to which we often hear, "Masters don't cry" from someone (usually the one who doesn't want to be tattled on for abusing the other)

Kade said the system goes like this:

There are three classes.  In the first class there are 10 levels.   When you graduate from this level you get your spirit animal (the student asks for one and Kade decides in the end what they get--Rhett wanted to be a Cheetah-so, after all the decision making process--his assigned Spirit Animal was--THE CHEETAH!--he was pretty excited about that).  That spirit animal decides how they will fight. In the second class there are 5 levels. And the third level has just 1.  Then you graduate and you're a master.

One afternoon the buzz from the kids was all about how Rhett was graduating that day. Jess and me and Mom and Dad were all invited to attend the ceremony.  After all assemblying and getting our chairs out.  It went like this:

Kade: "Rhett, have you done all you needed to do, to be a level 7 master?"
Rhett: nods yes
Kade: "K--then your spirit animal is....a cheetah!"

The end.

Then they showed us his moves on the tramp.  HA! I love having boys.  They're so awesome.

Luke gets his wolf!

He's earned his wolf!  :)  Luke's a good boy.  He loves scouts and has had great leaders!

Lego League Competition

Lego League Competition

I love this club.  How great for boys to get together and work out real world problems and build legos and robots.  Love. Love. Love.  This years question was about learning styles and how kids (and adults) could learn more efficiently.   They made up a game to memorize the states.  It was a speed game and it consisted of putting down a card, and when you did, whoever yelled out the state and the capital won the card.  Who ever had the most won.

Me and my friend did really well.  Our program worked and we knocked off three of the tasks our group was assigned.

Rhetts Carnival

January 2015

I love this boy.  Rhett decided to throw a carnival for all his friends.  The idea popped into his head and 5 minutes later, before I knew that he was even serious, I came downstairs to find he'd set up the table, and had started pouring orange juice as a snack for everyone!  HA!  He's a go getter this one.   We decided it was best to refrigerate that till later and got to work on a sign.

He drew the sign--let Max help him color it, and thought up games :)  (he's been wanting to do a carnival of his own since our neighbors the Carsons threw one in October.  Asked about once a week...this was a long time coming :)

Posted the news.  Now all that's left is to run and tell all the kids!

He had toy stations, lego stations, small throwing games...he helped me make cookies for the snack station, and face painting.  Here's Max being in charge of the face painting with Macyn :).  The perfect booth for the 2 year old-ha!
He loved throwing it and it made me so happy that so many of the neighborhood kids came and played with him.  We love this place!
